Experience
I am currently employed as a Teacher in Brantford, ON. I teach students of various grade and learning levels, cultural backgrounds, and intellectual abilities ranging from basic reading and grammar skills to advanced essay writing and literature analysis. I have over 7+ years experience tutoring and working with students in a classroom setting, as well as ESL tutoring. In the past, I have been a Teaching Assistant for a first year English undergrad course at the University of Waterloo, a Volunteer Tutor at Tutoring Beyond Borders, and a Leadership and Peer Mentor at Waterdown District High School. I have a great amount of experience helping students overcome challenges and improve their abilities in English. I'm able to assess each student's abilities and create a lesson roadmap to ensure they achieve their learning goals and are able to build and improve on various skills. I am able to share best practices for studying for tests, exams, final essays or projects, and can give valuable insight based on my educational and professional experience. Throughout my education, I've taken many specialized courses in English and History: English topics include Shakespeare, Writing for the Media, British Literature, American Literature, Literary Criticism, Contemporary and Classical Rhetoric, and Poetry; History topics include War and Society in Europe, The First World War, History in Film, Canadian History, and World War Two.
