Education
I am currently pursuing PhD in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences at McMaster University. I did 1.5 years of Masters degree before transferring into the PhD stream. I have been a recipient of a scholarship for my Masters. I graduated my bachelors in Biotechnology with a cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0. I have performed very well on courses that I am tutoring for and I have a keen interest in those subjects. Currently, I am researching innate immunology and have had the opportunity to apply a lot of the skills and knowledge that I learned over my undergraduate and Masters career.
Experience
I have almost 6 years of lab research experience and am highly-versed in scientific communication. i have been a teaching assistant (TA) to second year students for a lab course in Biochemistry for almost over a term now. i will continue to keep teaching various courses over the next few years as a TA. Participated in a "Let's Talk Science" event for the first time last year in which high school students were invited to McMaster to learn more about lab research. I believe this was the trigger for me to have a strong interest in teaching. I had a wonderful time with those school kids. The satisfaction of being able to share what i know and help them learn new things was fantastic. I have counseled students regarding career options and strategies for academic success in the course that i am a TA for as well as to undergraduate trainees who work in our lab. I scored high marks in Biology (Undergraduate Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, Genetics, Molecular Biology)
